We were tasked by one of our industrial clients to provide the electrical installation to for a Caustic storage and delivery system.

Our remit was to install containment, as required, to carry the associated cabling, which included both instrumentation, power and control.

The project included the installation of SAAB radar tank gauges onto two 3,000 tonne storage tanks. These were connected to the on-site tank monitoring system. We also carried out the installation of an “Accuload” tanker loading system to enable the measured delivery of the product to road tankers.
In order to ensure safe areas for operationals staff, new lighting was installed including an energy saving control panel. The lighting covered access and egress routes and along with areas where increased light levels were required for operational purposes.
Due to the nature of the product, it was necessary to install a local safety shower complete with emergency lighting and trace heating.

Although this particular project did not fall within the requirements set out in DSEAR or for electrical equipment installed within explosive atmospheres, it was decided that the installation should be installed with Hazardous area equipment and cable termination glands, to meet the current EN60079 requirements, as this would allow the client to easily change their product with a relative ease.

Following the installation, a Detailed Operations and Maintenance manual was submitted along with relevant test sheets, that included those issued by one of our COMPEX trained engineers. Asset data information was also submitted along with as installed drawings in AutoCAD DWG format.
