The OZEV EV chargepoint grant and how to claim it

The OZEV EV chargepoint grant has replaced the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) in April this year.

What is the OZEV EV chargepoint grant?

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargepoint grant allows people who live in rental accommodation or own a flat to reduce the cost of buying and installing a home charger by £350.

What is the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible for the grant, you must:

Live in rental accommodation or own a flat
Have dedicated off-street parking
Own, lease or have an eligible vehicle on order
Not have already claimed a chargepoint grant for the vehicle

Additionally, please note that you can no longer claim for 2 chargepoints if you own a second EV.

How do I claim the grant?

The KDE team can support your grant application which will be based on whether you rent a house or live in a flat.

If you meet the OZEV grant eligibility criteria and a charger can be connected to your own personal electrical supply at your house, you can speak to our team about making an order. You will be asked to fill in a form so that our team can assess your eligibility and confirm how to proceed with your order.

If you live in a flat we need to assess whether you can have a charger connected to your flat’s electrical supply and meter. However, for most people living in flats, your charging unit will be connected to a communal supply and meter, in which case we request that you ask your property manager to get in touch with us about our Residential EV Charging Solution.
